Hi! I have a question. Can my youngest and i walk through fast pass to wait at the ride for husband and older daughters without making a fast pass reservation? Or is it easier to make a reservation for a family of 5 for the ride and only have 3 of 5 ride?

Hi Melanie!  Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

FastPass+ is a wonderful system at Walt Disney World Resort that allows guests to skip the standby line at some of their favorite attractions.  All guests entering the FastPass+ queue will need to have a FastPass+ reservation for that attraction.

Melanie, when my family was in this situation, we found what worked best for us was to split up.  If one member of your family is too small or otherwise not interested in a particular attraction, rather than just waiting I recommend scheduling simultaneous FastPass+ for you and your younger child for a nearby attraction.  That way everyone gets to partake in the fun!  Other options would be to use the time apart from your husband and other children for a restroom break, a special snack or treat for your youngest, or to enjoy some of the live entertainment in the parks.  Then everyone can meet up again and continue to enjoy your day.  I found splitting up allowed us to accomplish more while keeping everyone in our family happy.  (You do not want to see a 12-year-old boy who was forced to meet Ariel with his sister. Trust me!)

I hope that helps!  Please feel free to visit us again if you have more questions about planning your vacation.
