    Wendy from FL Asked

I have a question regarding the waitlist for the earlier seating at dinner. Our family of 6 adults and 5 children ages 4-12 are on later seating. Any comments regarding experience with this? I know you can be moved as late as 3 days prior sailing.

Welcome aboard the Disney Parks Moms Panel Wendy!

It's almost time to set sail with Captain Mickey.  It sounds like you have a great pirate crew heading out to sea soon and let's face it, we don't want them to get too hungry or someone may end up walking the plank!

My family typically has had the early seating on our cruises, for the same reason I suspect you are on the waitlist - four year old buccaneers do not like to wait to eat!  I have talked with many families that have had success on the waitlist to move from the late seating to early seating; so the good news is that it does happen.  If at the time of sailing you still are scheduled for the late seating, here are some of my tips that keep our pirates-in-training from getting too salty.

With the late seating dinner you are able to attend the first show each evening.  Our family found that we enjoyed this as we then purchased some treats to snack on during the show and we were not too full from dinner to have them!

On two of the evenings on our cruise, we ordered room service mid-afternoon before the show and had a pre-evening appetizer party in our stateroom.  It was fun to try some of the treats from the room service menu and relax on the verandah watching the ship pull out of port and it kept us from getting hungry before our dinner seating.

Another option is to allow the little ones to enjoy a meal while they are in the Oceaneer Club and allow the six adults to dine alone for an evening.  If you are interested in dining in the adults only restaurants like Palo, this is a good option to eat earlier on one evening.  Palo and Remy do require advance reservations and additional charges do apply.

Good luck planning some fun for your crew and bon voyage Wendy! Happy Sailing! Angie
