I have a question about footwear. Sandals are comfortable shoes; however, my brother tells me that there are rides that don't allow them. And that it would be better to have everyone in sneakers. Is this true?

    Hi Demelza,

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. You and your brother aren't the only ones with questions about proper footwear for a day in the Walt Disney World theme parks. It's a matter of great debate.

Some people swear that sneakers are the way to go; others only wear flip-flops. I'm firmly in the camp of comfortable walking sandals, personally.

I'm not aware of any rides that prohibit sandals. Your brother may be thinking of Soarin' at Epcot. If you are wearing flip-flops or backless sandals, you are asked to leave to leave your shoes on the floor in front of you as your flight begins. You are reunited with your shoes at the end of your flight around the world.

My recommendation is to choose whatever shoes are most comfortable for you.

Please let us know if you have any other questions about planning your visit. We're always happy to make recommendations about dining, rides and attractions, resorts or any other part of a Walt Disney World vacation. Enjoy!
