I just purchased the Unofficial Guide to WDW 2009. I was excited when I ordered it but must say I'm disappointed. 850 pages of things I already knew or don't care about knowing. Any suggestions on books/guides that aren't so mundane? You guys are great!!

I have NEVER heard this comment. As a source for Disney touring tips, the UG is unparalleled. I've read it cover to cover for the past ten years. But if you're looking for a different source of travel advice, I list some other popular WDW travel guides HERE. You can also find WDW information on the websites allearsnet.com, mousesavers.com, disboards.com, intercot.com, thelaughingplace.com, passporter.com, tourguidemike.com, stitchkingdom.com, thedisneyblog.com, jimhillmedia.com, and MANY others. Bret discusses Disney podcasts HERE.

If it's in-depth you want, you may need a book that is not travel guide. Here are a few picks from my personal library:

    - FUN: The Imagineering Field Guide series by the Imagineers; Hidden Mickeys by Barrett; Passporter's Treasure Hunts by Marx; Walt Disney World Trivia Book by Mongello

    -  ACADEMIC: Disney Discourse by Smoodin; Deconstructing Disney by Byrne & McQuillan; Vinyl Leaves by Fjellman; The Mouse Machine by Telotte; Rethinking Disney by Budd & Kirsch; Disney and His Worlds by Bryman; The Magic Kingdom by Watts; The Disney Version by Schickel; Tinker Belles and Evil Queens by Griffin

    - BUSINESS: Inside the Magic Kingdom Connellan; Spinning Disney's World by Ridgway; Disney War by Stewart; Inside the Mouse by The Project on Disney

    - BIOGRAPHY: Walt Disney by Gabler

    - ART: Building a Dream by Dunlop; The Art of Walt Disney by Finch

    - FICTION: Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom by Doctorow; The Dream Factory by Barkley & Helper; Kingdom Keepers by Pearson

I have LOTS more, but I've run out of room. Try your library for these and others. Happy reading!
