We purchased round trip Disney magical express from MCO to Cape Canaveral. We disembark at 0730 am. BUT our flight doesn’t leave until 9 pm from MCO. We want to spend time at Disney Springs. How can we get there from MCO and is the luggage storage?

    Hi Stephanie!

WOW! Your Disney Cruise Line plans are really taking flight! I'll bet you have a countdown calendar going as you look forward to setting sail with Captain Mickey. Bravo for maximizing your final day with some extra time at Disney Springs!

I love a good logistical challenge: getting from Port Canaveral to Orlando International Airport and then Disney Springs without having to stress about luggage. Solution # 1: For guests using Disney Cruise Line ground transportation, there’s the Onboard Airline Check-In. This service offers passengers flying select airlines to check their luggage for their return flight and receive their airline boarding passes before disembarking the ship. What a timesaver and convenience this service truly is! Check to see which airlines participate in the program; additionally, scheduled flights must be on the day the cruise ends and after 11:25 a.m. for Port Canaveral cruises.

Solution # 2: If you want to store your carry on items and don’t want to tote them around Disney Springs, then take the ground transportation you already have arranged from Port Canaveral and check your luggage with Hold My Luggage, a luggage storage service at Orlando International Airport. Just make sure to verify hours of operation so you return in plenty of time to retrieve your luggage.

Final Solution: An idea I learned from my friend Angie is to rent a car from the Orlando International Airport and drive to Disney Springs yourselves. Daily rates for rental cars can be really inexpensive and might actually cost less than storing luggage at the airport. Instead, you can keep the luggage in the car and spend the day exploring Disney Springs with its fabulous shopping, dining, and entertainment. I’d say the restaurant choices at Disney Springs beat the airport’s selections by a nautical mile! My recommendation: Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' with its Thigh High Chicken Biscuits and Hummingbird Cake.

    Happy Sailing!
