If we purchase gift cards locally, can we add them to our magic bands for convenience rather than having to use the actual gift cards with purchases?

Hello Cassandra! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

When I travel on a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, one of my favorite things is that I can get through most of my Disney Day with my Disney Gift Cards and MagicBand in tow. All of my purchases can be made through my Disney Gift Cards while my Theme Park Admissions, FastPass+ Selections, Advanced Dining Reservations and Memory Maker Photos can all be linked through My Disney Experience on my MagicBand. It makes for a vacation where traveling lighter is definitely possible.

While I have been able to link a major credit card to my MagicBand after having Guest Services approve my MagicBand for scanning purchases to your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Room(with a PIN number you provide), I have not been able to directly link a Disney Gift Card to a MagicBand through My Disney Experience Account or the like.

When I'm traveling without Gift Cards, I will charge purchases back to my Walt Disney World Resort Hotel Room and often pay with cash or a Disney Gift Card at the Front Desk later before it is charged to my credit card. This way I can scan on my MagicBand at the Point of Sale and leave the Disney Gift Cards in my Resort Hotel room.

When you Check-In to your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, you could always inquire with Guest Services if they would be able to put the credit from the Disney Gift Card onto your Room Account preemptively.

    Have a Magical Vacation!
