    Nancy from AZ Asked

If I purchase an annual pass, exactly when does the effective date of the pass begin? Will it begin based upon the date I buy it? Or will the year begin on the 1st date I actually use it?

    Hi Nancy,

I am so happy to hEAR that you are thinking about becoming a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder. This is a terrific way to enjoy a yEAR of magic in the four Theme Parks, while taking advantage of many Annual Pass benefits and discounts, including discounts on dining, merchandise, Walt Disney Resort hotel rooms (when available), tours and recreation, and my personal favorite perk, unlimited Disney PhotoPass downloads! .

Nancy, I am pleased to confirm that you can most definitely wait to activate your Annual Pass until sometime following your date of purchase. In fact, currently Passholders have up until December 31, 2030 in which to activate an Annual Pass. Yes, you read that right: 2030! Hopefully that should give you plenty of time! Once you activate your Annual Pass upon its first use, your My Disney Experience account will automatically update with the expiry date for your Annual Pass, which makes it easy to keep track of how much time is remaining.

With the upcoming holiday season quickly approaching, purchasing an Annual Pass for yourself or a family member would be a lovely way to spread some joy and excitement this Christmas.

Wishing you an upcoming magical Disney yEAR with your Annual Pass!
