How is the public transportation in Antigua. We were not able to secure an excursion at this time and we would like to visit the beaches. Any suggestions and tips are appreciated.

Welcome aboard the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Teri!

I am so excited to hEAR you will be sailing with Captain Minnie on the Disney Fantasy this summer to Antigua!  This beautiful island has colorful, brightly painted buildings, gorgeous gardens and rainforests as well as amazing beaches.  It is a great port to visit!

The best way to get around Antigua on your own is by taxi.  Finding a taxi is easy, as they are plentiful just outside the pier.  Another possible option is to rent a car and have it delivered to the pier when your ship docks.  If you decide to rent a car, it's important to know the island traffic drives on the left and requires a local driver's permit, which the rental company could help you obtain.

Once onboard the ship, be sure to visit the Port Adventures Desk (Deck 5, Midship) to speak with a Cast Member about available Port Adventures.  As guests change their plans during their vacation, additional Port Adventures to the beach may become available for you.

If you do adventure out on your own, a great beach to visit is Half Moon Bay.  It is incredibly beautiful and perfect for swimming and relaxing in the sand.  If you are looking for a more active beach, you may want to consider Dickerson Bay.  After a day on the beach, you can visit the two open air markets just outside the pier for some souvenirs before heading back to the Disney Fantasy for the evening.

Enjoy making magical memories in Antigua!  Bon voyage!  Angie
