Hi I am going to propose to my girlfriend next month and I booked a Disney resort and it's showing in her plans. If I take her off my family list will that take her off the hotel reservation? I already paid and put a deposit. Thank you!

Hi, Tyler! We would all like to extend our congratulations and best wishes to you for a magical future with your special lady. I am sure you must have some secrets up your sleeve for this big proposal and want to make sure it all goes according to plan. Am I correct in assuming that you are wanting to take her off your My Family & Friends List because you want to keep those secrets hidden? If so, doing that may not help hide the room reservation, but I have a few tips that may help you keep some things secret.

When you made the room reservation and listed her (along with her My Disney Experience account email address) as the other room occupant, the system will have stored her information and account. Since she does have her own account that is just connected to yours, taking her off your My Family & Friends List should not remove her from the room reservation. She will still be able to see the room reservation in her account, whether or not she is on your List. Before you jump so far as to remove her profile from your List, let's chat about some ways to keep parts of your trip a surprise for your girlfriend.

Go into your My Family & Friends List and click Update next to her name. There will be a checkbox that you can click to allow her to only see your shared plans. When making plans you may want to keep hidden, such as a romantic dinner, try to not include her My Disney Experience account email or link her profile as a participating guest when making the reservation if you can. That way, she will not see those reservations because she will not be among the list of guests for it.

Some dining locations require prepayment, so you will need to include her. Hhmmm, here is an idea for that scenario - still modify her profile to only see shared plans. Make a new alternate profile for her but change the name just a little. If she is Susan Jones, maybe name the profile Susie Jones or Susan A. Jones. Do not connect that fake profile to her My Disney Experience account! Use that alternate profile in the guest list for your secret reservations. This will give the system a name and age for the guest, which will determine the price for it, but it will still be hidden from the real Susan Jones.

I hope this information may help you while setting up the beginning of your Happily Ever After. If you have any questions about this or would like to check back with more specific information about your plans and keeping magical moments a surprise, feel free to pop back in and send me a question directly.
