Kids on Toy Story Mania

I am in the process of planning a trip to Disney. I have a very active 2 year old and a 3 year old (he's pretty chill) We live in Hawaii and frequent Disneyland since it's closer...thoughts on going to Disneyworld?

    Aloha Kristie,

I love that you frequent Disneyland Resort. While I live on the East Coast, Disneyland is one of my favorite Disney destinations.

My first thought: yes, go to Walt Disney World Resort. The question is: when?

It's not at all a case of “same theme park, different coast.” Yes, both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort share the same Disney DNA, as I say it. And yes, they share attractions such as Toy Story Mania, and "it's a small world." That said, you and your little ones will enjoy experiences at Walt Disney World Resort that are not available to you at Disneyland Resort, just as you already enjoy experiences at Disneyland Resort that are not available to you at Walt Disney World Resort, say Mickey's Toontown, for example.

BUT,  I want to be mindful of the ages of your little ones. At Disneyland Resort, I love that we can easily walk (or stroller) to-and-from one of the Disneyland Resort Hotels to the parks. Everywhere you want to be is simply some matter of steps away. Walt Disney World Resort is vast by comparison. No matter which Walt Disney World Resort Hotel you choose (and I always recommend vacationing on property at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel) you likely will use the bus transportation system, Monorails, and water transportation a lot.

So, Kristie, I think your answer comes back to you as a question: are you a "go anywhere and make anything fun" type? Or are you a "we want to experience everything fun as nearby as possible" type?

I personally believe every Disney fan should experience both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. It's just a matter of  choosing that magic moment.

    Enjoy your Disney!
