In a previous ? you mentioned touring the different resorts at Christmas. We will arrive late in the afternoon Dec 15, so don't plan a park that day. Can we visit other resorts to view their holiday decorations? We will be staying at SoG.

You most certainly can!  And what's more is that the Shades of Green makes for a very convenient starting point.  Your resort is very close in proximity to Disney's Polynesian.  Perhaps you could start your "holiday tour" there.  The huge gingerbread workshop there has been a draw in years past.  From the Polynesian, you could hop onto the monorail and head over to the Grand Floridian and spend some time admiring the impressively decorated resort.  Once you've finished admiring the beautiful tree in the lobby, be sure to look further.  There are amazing gingerbread creations, including a dollhouse and miniature railroad, scattered about.  From there you can re-board the monorail and head over to the Magic Kingdom.  Get off the monorail there, but don't enter the park.  Instead, walk over to the bus loading area and board a bus to either the Beach Club or the Boardwalk.  Both of these Epcot area resorts are worth the trip.  The gingerbread carousel at the Beach Club as well as the gazebo at the Boardwalk are definitely holiday must-sees.  You won't want to overlook the ornaments that adorn the Christmas trees in any of the locations you visit.  All are beautifully themed to fit the surroundings.

I would also recommend a visit to the Wilderness Lodge as well as Animal Kingdom Lodge if you can fit it into your itinerary.  One great excuse to do so would be to book dinner at each of these resorts!
