The port times in Alaska on the Wonder are so short. We're planning to sail from Seattle in June 2012 and I'm having a hard time finding excursions to do in such a short time. For example, we're sceduled to be in Ketchikan and Juneau from 7am-12 pm

    Hi, Donna!

My family and I sailed on the Disney Wonder this past summer to Alaska, and we treasure our memories from that magnificent voyage. Because the itinerary includes sailing through Tracy Arm and stops in Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan and Victoria...the times in port have been abbreviated. Here are the posted port times for next summer's sailings:

    Skagway, Alaska 7:15 a.m. -7:30 p.m.
    Juneau, Alaska 7:45 a.m. -2:00 p.m.
    Ketchikan, Alaska 7:15 a.m. -12:30 p.m.
    Victoria, Canada 6:00 p.m. -10:30 p.m.

With the most port time in Skagway, double up on your Port Adventures -- especially the outdoorsy ones.  We liked mountain biking and horseback riding because it exposed us to the rugged terrain and gorgeous scenery, but we also loved panning for gold at the miner's camp and zip-lining!

In Juneau, our favorites were whale watching and the helicopter ride to the dog mushing camp/glacier trekking. You could do one of those in the time you have.

Since there is much to see around the port in Ketchikan, plan to take in the Lumberjack Show -- which is only a short walk from the ship -- and then some dining/shopping in the downtown area.  Potlatch Park is another fun outing for the kids, and since it's a Disney exclusive, you know that it'll be scheduled during your time in port.

Although you'll be in Victoria during the evening hours, it doesn't get dark until really late. Therefore, Butchart Gardens and a double-decker bus tour of the island may be just the ticket to show you that port. Plus, dining (or tea) at The Empress is a treat.

Let me know if you think of other questions. You'll have plenty of time to see Alaska and Canada...even if it's right from the cozy decks of the Disney Wonder!

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
