Please help! we are trying to plan a trip in jan09 for my two girls bdays turning 4 &5. trying to pick which resort. First thought was the Beach Club,is it worth it with the unpredictable weather. what is best place to stay for the kids & time o

I actually stayed at the Beach Club in both January 2007 and January 2008. In 2007, it was in the mid to high 70s, mostly sunny with just a puffy cloud or two high in the sky. I spent hours and hours camped out at the pool. In 2008, it was in the 50s and low 60s with intermittent rain. I barely made it to the pool at all.

Of course the weather will be the same no matter where you are at WDW. Your pool time would be affected by rain at any of the resorts. On my January 2008 trip, I was by myself so it didn't matter that much to me, but I could see that this would be disappointing if I had planning swimming as a major activity. I will say that other people were taking advantage of the pool complex. All the Disney pools are heated year round. Kids are often seen having a great time in the warm pools, while the parents are huddled on the edge in sweatshirts.

There are, of course, many other great reasons to stay at the Beach Club besides the pool: proximity to Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios, great service, beautiful themeing, choice of restaurants in the area, and on and on. But yes, one reasons many people choose the Yacht or Beach Club is the amazing pool complex.

So, the question is ... do you risk it? I've stayed at the Beach Club eight times, all in December, January or February. There were two of these trips that felt like the weather was not good for swimming during my entire stay. For the other six, there were at least a few days that things were lovely by the pool. You should consider all factors when deciding where to stay. With two preschoolers, will you be at the Magic Kingdom every day? Maybe a monorail hotel is best for you. Do your kids like animals? The Animal Kingdom Lodge has a very nice pool as well as on-site viewing of African animals.

The weather could be a factor in your touring no matter what time of year you visit. You just have to rank your resort priorities and hope for the best.
