We are playing a trip with are childern and grandchildren We live in FL - 5 adults 2 and 3 year old grandchild Dec.18-20 What is a good economic way to go? Thanks.

    Hi Lisa,

It's great to be a Florida resident and take advantage of the special rates and offers Walt Disney World provides for us. I have several suggestions to make your visit as economical as possible.

First, know that the 2-year-old won't need a ticket and will be able to eat free at buffet restaurants and at any other venues as long as he or she shares with another member of your party.

Also, you are planning your visit to end just before the Christmas rush, so you should be able to take advantage of the Florida resident discounts on resort stays. To see what discounted rooms remain available, you will want to call (407) 939-1885. No online booking for the Florida resident rates is available during your travel period. The special was advertising the Pop Century resort for as little as $87 a night, so please check it out. (I just got home from a weekend visit to Pop Century. It is my family's favorite value resort and our go-to when we want a great Disney hotel at a great rate.)

As Florida residents, you also will be eligible for ticket discounts.Just know that each adult will need to show appropriate Florida ID. And, when you call about your resort reservations, be sure to ask if there is a Disney Dining Plan offer that might save you money.

If you don't do a dining plan -- or even if you do -- please know that you are welcome to bring non-alcoholic drinks and food with you. You can save a good bit of money by stocking your in-room mini fridge with water, juice and other drinks. You also can bring snacks with you from home to keep in your room for breakfast or late night. And you can bring snacks or sandwiches with you into the parks to save money if you wish.

I'm limited on space, but I hope that gives you a place to start as you make your plans. Please let me know if I can do anything else to help. Enjoy!
