We are planning our 1st wdw trip and planning to stay on our pop up camper at ft wilderness. Does anyone have suggestions on how to plan our meals. i.e. what meals to eat in the camper vs the park. meal plan vs non meal plan. Thanks in advance!!

Hi Rebecca! We are in our motor coach as I write this in Fort Wilderness and can understand how confused you are about the meal planning.

Definitely plan on your breakfasts in the camper each day unless you have chosen a character type or special breakfast in the parks. Breakfast is an easy meal to pack for and a good way to get your day started right.  You are allowed to pack sandwiches and bring them into the parks in a small cooler or backpack but that makes enjoying attractions a bit more difficult since you have to figure out what to do with your extra baggage. You might consider getting reservations for lunch in the parks but make the time more at mid day and use it as your big meal for the day. My family calls this "linner" which is between lunch and dinner. Then back at your campsite in the evening have some healthy snacks to eat to finish your day.

Because you have so much more freedom to plan and eat at your site I have found the dining plan does not work as efficiently with the campers as it does with the resort guests. It is certainly an individual decision and of course depends on what kind of restaurants you wish to enjoy during your stay.

No matter what I always advise guests to eat at least one meal a day at a table service location. This gives your family a chance to rest and slow down the pace and communicate with each other all the fun things they have done so far. The parks are busy and the pace is fast so stopping to eat at least one time each day gives you a chance to enjoy what you have done or look forward to what is ahead.
