Hi, we are planning to visit WDW this year during the week of Christmas. Having a hard time deciding whether to stay in CSR again (which we loved), or staying in a deluxe resort. Is a deluxe resort worth the extra cost, especially during this peak season?

    Hi LaToya,

A visit to Walt Disney World during Christmas week can be so magical.  My husband and I have stayed at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort and we love it as well!

There are a few factors in deciding if you want to spend the extra money on a deluxe resort.  First, if you are a family who likes to spend a lot of time at the resort, exploring a deluxe resort may be worth the money for you.  The deluxe resorts tend to have deeper themes and more activities than the moderate resorts.  While all Walt Disney World resorts typically have lovely decorations for the holidays, the deluxe resorts will be lavishly decorated, so you should consider this if it is important to you.  If you will spend most of your time at the theme parks, and the resort itself is not as important to you, then the moderate resort is probably a better choice for you.

Also consider which theme parks you want to spend the most time at.  If you will be at Magic Kingdom Park and Epcot the most, then a resort on the monorail line (Disney's Polynesian Resort, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, or Disney's Contemporary Resort) may save you a lot of time as you can get to those theme parks quickly using the monorail.

A reason that you might consider staying at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort again is what you could do with the money that you save over a deluxe resort.  For example, you could take your family to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, which requires a separate ticket.  You could plan a few extra special meals, or visit the new Senses Spa at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.

I know that this is not a definitive answer, LaToya, but I do truly believe that the answer to this question depends on your family.  I hope that this has given you some things to consider in making your decision.  Whatever you decide, have a wonderful time visiting Walt Disney World during the holidays!
