We are planning to visit WDW Jan..7,2012. Are we going to run into problems with the Marathon race on Jan. 8th. Will it be more crowded and are there going to be runners all through Magic Kingdom that day?

    Hi Judy,

My husband has run the Disney Marathon and half marathon three times. It was part of a goal he set for himself to run an marathon and Disney was the perfect place to run a first marathon.

Epcot will be the most impacted by the race. The race starts at 6:00 am here and ends here as well. The runners will enter by the International Gateway and run through World Showcase from France to Mexico and then out to the finish line over on the Future World side by MouseGears.

Magic Kingdom should be free of runners by 10:00 am at the latest and they only run across the front of the park so you will have little worries of them beating you to a ride.

After the race, you will see runners back in the parks to celebrate however some would opt for a nap.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
