We are planning a visit to WDW the first week in May. My 4yr old daughter is not a princess. I don't want her called that all day. It will upset her. What is the best way to handle this?

    Hi Kristin,

Most little girls do love being called a Princess, however, that label does not fit every little girl.  My daughter loves dressing up as a Princess, but she makes it very clear to Cast Members that she is not a Princess, she is Lauren who is wearing a Princess costume!

This could be a tricky situation, but I have a few suggestions to make it less likely for the Cast Members to call her Princess.  First, I would suggest to stop by Guest Relations at any Theme Park or at the front desk of your Walt Disney World Resort and pick up a celebration button.  If you are not celebrating anything specific, there is a general button, and have the Cast Member write her name on the button.  In the Theme Parks, Cast Members will look for the button to address your daughter by name first, which should cut back on some of the Princess remarks.  Another suggestion along those lines would be to purchase a pair of Mickey Ears and have them embroidered with your daughter's name on the back.  Again, Cast Members would prefer to call your child by her first name, so they will look there first.

Many families like to have custom Disney T-Shirts made for the entire family.  You could have a shirt made for your daughter with her name on the front, so the Cast Members will address her by name, not Princess.

If your daughter is into Pirates, consider taking her for a Pirate Makeover at The Pirates League.  With the makeup and costume, there is no way the Cast Members will call her Princess!  After the makeover, she can wear the bandana and pirate accessories for the rest of the trip to avoid the Princess label.

If you would like some other suggestions or more specific details regarding one of the options I have provided, please let me know.  I would be happy to help.
