We are planning a visit and I do not understand the tier system. How do I know what tier to buy for Monday, April 13th for one park one day? Additionally if I buy a tier 1 ticket on plum benefits of AAA can I use it on April 13th?

    Hi Naima!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you so much for asking this Disneyland Resort vacation planning question to us hEAR!

This is a great question, and don't worry, this is a brand new ticket pricing structure and it took a while for me to ask a lot of questions and understand it too. There is a 1-day ticket price planning calendar, but it is a bit buried so I'll help you find it. On the Disneyland Resort home page, when you toggle on the "Parks & Tickets" header link, a drop down opens up, and under the "Tickets" section you'll click "Park Tickets". Under the "Select the Number of Days" section, as soon as you click "1, prices vary by date", a pricing calendar will pop open. It's currently showing that Monday, April 13 is a "Tier 5" day, meaning that the only tickets that may be redeemed that day are for Tier 5. BUT, say that you buy this ticket and something happens in your trip and you want to switch your planned Disney Days around a bit; you can redeem a Tier 5 ticket on any other day of the year. However, if you originally plan to buy a ticket for a day that is any lower tier and then switch things up to where you're now visiting the parks on a Tier 5 day, you'd have to upgrade your lower ticket to a Tier 5.

What does this mean for tickets purchased from third party locations, like AAA? I don't have a Plum Benefits account so I can't see their prices or set up. But, I am a Military wife and we have something very, very similar offered through the base. If the tickets that Plum is selling are listed by their tier levels, and you're dead set on visiting on April 13, you'll be fine purchasing a Tier 5 ticket from this non-Disney website. If the tickets that this online portal sells are generic 1-day tickets, you should be able to use those on any tier day as this is part of the benefit that Plum has worked out with Disney. In my case with the ticket office on base, they sell the generic 1-day tickets that are valid all days; however, they do tell us that because Disneyland Resort uses a tiered system, there are technically days where the generic able-to-be-used-on-any-tier-day 1-day tickets offer no savings compared to the tickets offered directly through Disneyland Resort. So if you've done the math and these tickets are a really great deal then I'd definitely order them too.

One Pro Tip that I'd like to add: Disneyland Theme Park Tickets purchased directly through Disney either in person, online or through the Disneyland Mobile App are not charged any sales tax, so heads up if this third party does charge that as this total might offset any savings you do find.

Bonus Pro Tip: Your visit happens to be during the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival! Check out this Foodie Guide from the Disney Parks Blog, and be sure to keep up with the DPB for all other Disneyland Resort news!

I hope this helped to answer and plan for your upcoming Disney Days, Naima, and if you have any more Disneyland Resort planning questions, We're All Ears!
