We're planning a visit Mid-May at CBR while on the dining plan. We're interested in a dinner show as a family of 5 with kids 8, 3, and 1. We're leaning towards the Spirit of Aloha, but curious what would be best for us. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Hi John:

The Spirit of Aloha is great, and one of my most vivid memories as a five year old is of the fire dancing during the luau at the Polynesian. However, for my family, the most fun dinner event is the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. Hoop-Dee-Doo is a wonderful family experience. Hoop-Dee-Doo is one of Disney World's longest running dinner shows, and it's easy to understand why. The show is entertaining, the cast is talented, the atmosphere is festive, the jokes are plentiful (and corny), and the food is finger-licking tasty.

Hoop-Dee-Doo is a vaudeville-style dinner show with a country twist. Dinner is served family style and includes favorites like fried chicken, smoked bbq pork ribs, fresh corn bread, strawberry shortcake and the most delicious country-style baked beans I have ever tasted. The food and most drinks are all-you-can-consume, so you'll leave satisfied.

As you enjoy the food, the extraordinary Hoop-Dee-Doo cast puts on a show full of dancing, singing, and comedy. While theoretically there may be a cynical young adult or two out there who may be too cool for some of the corny humor, your two older children seem to be at the right age to really get a laugh from the jokes. Hoop-Dee-Doo is very interactive and the cast frequently takes the show from the stage and into the audience to sing songs and engage the guests. Towards the end of the performance, a handful of lucky audience members are asked to join the show for the grand finale.

I may have made your decision harder by plugging Hoop-Dee-Doo. But either option will be a treat for your family.

    Enjoy your vacation.
