Planning 1st visit! Little ones 5 & 8. We are staying 5 days - are the dining shows worth the time spent? If so which do you sugget. Want to include as much magic as possible:) Love this panel - had no idea planning would be so complicated:)

    Hi Andrea!

Congratulations on your upcoming trip!  The dinner shows are all wonderful way to end a Disney day.  We've been to all three: Hoop De Do Review, Spirit of Aloha Show (a luau) and Mickey's Backyard Barbecue.  My top pick for a family with children your age is Mickey's Barbecue hosted in  giant outdoor (covered) pavilion at Fort Wilderness Campground.  At this event, you'll dine on picnic-style food via an all-you-care-to-eat buffet on items such as baked chicken, ribs, cole slaw, hot dogs, and watermelon.  Beer, Wine, Lemonade and Iced Tea are also included as well as coolers filled with Mickey ice cream bars and other frozen treats.  The show features a country western band, and Mickey, Minnie, Chip & Dale and other Disney characters who dance along with the audience on a giant dance floor.  In my opinion, this show offers unprecedented access to the characters.  My kids were holding hands with Mickey and doing line dances with Goofy.  My little guy was literally hanging on to Chip's  (or was id Dale's?) tail for most of the night!

The barbecue is a blast.  I highly recommend it to families with kids who love the characters.

    Have a wonderful vacation!
