Planning another visit for Christmas 2016 and we are wanting to stay at a moderate resort this time. We don't want to have to spend a lot of time waiting on buses or walking long distances to food courts. Which resort would you suggest and why? Thanks

    Hi Kim!

If there is one time of the year when Walt Disney World is even more magical than the rest, that time would have to be Christmas.  You're going to have such a wonderful time!

The Moderate Resort Hotels are great in terms of combining amenities, beautiful theming, fantastic pool areas and value.  While all the Moderate Resort hotels have their own advantages, my personal recommendation (and favorite) is Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter.

As soon as you step foot onto the cobblestone streets of French Quarter's grounds, see the lush landscaping, smell the beignets and hear the jazz music in the air, you'll feel like you've stepped into historic New Orleans.  This is one of the smallest hotels on property, meaning it takes only a few minutes to get anywhere, whether it's to your room, the Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory Food Court, shops, Doubloon Lagoon pool area (kids are big fans of the dragon slide!) or bus stop, and also adds to the laid-back atmosphere.

There is just one bus stop here, which makes the whole experience much less hectic than you'll find at other hotels (especially those with multiple bus stops).  Even during busier times when a bus is shared with neighboring Disney's Port Orleans - Riverside, I've found the transportation to be quick and convenient. Speaking of transportation, I also love the fact that you can hop on a boat that will take you from the French Quarter to the shops, restaurants and entertainment at Downtown Disney.  The complimentary ride along the Sassagoula River is relaxed and only takes about 20 minutes.

And did I mention the beignets already?  Seriously, they are THE BEST!

I hope that helps with your planning, Kim, but please visit us here on the Disney Parks Moms Panel again with any other questions.
