Planning a vacation to WDW first time visit, I am going to do the dining plan. Do I need to book reservations at different restaurants when I book my trip? Also, I have no clue as to which places to choose. There are so many. I have 3 boys ages 3,8,10.

    Amy,

Thanks for visiting us. A first time trip is so exciting!

I've added the Disney Dining Plan several times and can certainly help you navigate the options. Firstly, google "Advanced Dining Reservations 180 day calculator." These independent sites will provide you the date you can begin booking reservations. For example, if I were arriving Dec. 1st, I could begin making my reservations as early as June 4th (180 days prior to your arrival.) Staying at a Disney Resort Hotel allows you to make 10 days worth of reservations on this "booking" day. You will not need to keep calling back each day to make reservations. You'll simply call 407-WDW-DINE or reserve tables online to set them up.

It's important to book your dining as early as possible, and Character Dining experiences are a great way to utilize dining credits. Here are suggestions to get you started, which include a few Character Dining options:

    'Ohana
    Chef Mickey's
    Teppan Edo
    Tusker House
    The Crystal Palace

Write me back with your travel dates, types of tickets (park hoppers or base tickets) along with the boys' tastes and I'd be happy to suggest a dining itinerary.
