I am planning a vacation for a variety of ages (73, 49, 45, 26, 16, & 3). This will be the 1st time that my 73yr old grandmother has been to DW. What should we plan to do to entertain everyone young & old? Any tips for older DW guests would be appr

    Hi Jennifer,

I LOVE multi-generational trips to Walt Disney World!  In years to come you will be so glad to have the memories you will have made on this trip.  I traveled to Walt Disney World with my grandmother more than thirty years ago and yet the memories from those trips are still among my all-time favorites.

When you are planning a trip covering such varied ages, it is important to sit down with everyone and make a short list of each person's goals for the trip.  Does the sixteen-year-old look forward to the thrill rides?  Would your three-year-old like to meet Mickey?  Does grandma want to ride the monorail?  Once you've compiled a cumulative wish list, lay out your Disney itinerary to include at least two "must-do" activities for each person.  Keep in mind that you needn't do EVERYTHING together as a group. If your preschooler needs a nap mid-day, perhaps an adult in your party could take him or her back to the resort for a break while the others continue to explore the parks.  Make sure to schedule in break times for anyone who might need them.  Stay hydrated and rest often.  That will make for a much happier travel party.

I would also heartily encourage you to plan at least two table service meals together during the trip that you will all enjoy together.  Perhaps you'd like to meet Mickey early in your trip at Chef Mickey's in Disney's Contemporary Resort.  Then, near the end of your trip, have another lovely meal together where you can reflect on all the fun you've had.  Be sure to call (407) WDW-DINE in advance of your visit to make reservations for these meals.

Let us know, Jennifer, what else we can help you with as you plan.  Sending you pixie dust for a truly magical multi-generational vacation!
