I am planning a vacation for three familys. We want to stay in a Deluxe Villa. How do we split up the bill between the three familys and allow the familys to choose their own meal plans? There will be 6 adults and 3-4 children.

    Hi Melissa,

I have planned and taken a vacation very similar to the one you are describing.  We, too, had three families splitting the bill for the room.  The front desk was very happy to break the bill down into portions; one family paid their share in cash, while the other two paid their respective portions with separate credit cards.  What made this easier was that all three families were present at check-in time.

Some reservations require that the cost for the hotel be paid in full upon arrival.  If you are paying for your resort in advance of your arrival, one family could put the entire fee on a credit card and then the other two families could reimburse that family directly by cash or personal check.

Unfortunately, if you are all staying in the same deluxe villa you will not be able to choose different dining plans for each family.  Either you all choose the same dining plan or none at all.  Unless you all agree wholeheartedly on the same plan, I would suggest you all pay out-of-pocket for meals to avoid disagreements within your travel party.

Traveling in a large group with friends can be especially magical.  I hope you have a spectacular vacation.

    Best wishes,
    Jill
