Planning a vacation 9/11-9/16,2011 for myself, my daughter, her husband and three children, 5, 9, 11. (very active boys) Can't decide between 2 cabins in Campground or 2-BR Villa at Wilderness Lodge. What would you suggest.

    Hi Joy,

I recommend The Villas at Wilderness Lodge hands down. The 2 bedroom Villas offer a lot of space, as well as 2 bathrooms (which is key). There is a separate master bedroom, as well as an additional bedroom and a pull-out sofa. The kitchen is a great size and the living room has plenty of room. Essentially, you'll feel like you are in an apartment with plenty of room to move around. The most important selling points to me are the extra bathroom, the extra space and the "real beds" for adults to sleep in.

We recently stayed in a Cabin at Fort Wilderness and while they are very nice, I don't think they would suit your needs very well. We brought 4 of our 5 children, so there were 6 of us in the Cabin. It makes for very tight quarters, especially with 3 adults like you would have. The bedroom has a double bed and an bunk bed, and then there is a full sized Murphy bed that pulls out of the wall. Essentially none of the adults in your party will be getting a good nights sleep, as one will be in the bedroom with the kids and the others will be squished onto a small fold-out bed together. You mention 3 very active boys, and while there would be plenty of room to run around Fort Wilderness to let off some energy, when you are inside, you'll feel as though you're all right on top of each other. I personally would rent the Cabins again, but only if I didn't have as many of my family members with me next time.

The Wilderness Lodge is absolutely stunning, which is yet another selling point to staying in the Villas. In addition, you can still enjoy all of the activities over at Fort Wilderness, so it's the best of both worlds.

Hope this helps and have a wonderful vacation,
