Planning our vacation for June 2014 - 2 ad 3 kids. Don't know if dining plan is worth getting. We plan on 1 ts for dinner each day and just snacking thru out the day. Should I purchase or pay out of pocket? Want at least 2 character meals.

Hi Angie! A Disney vacation in June is always a fun way to celebrate the end of the school year!

If your three kids are all age 9 and under, then the Disney Dining Plan would be a great deal for your family. The regular Dining Plan includes one table-service meal, one quick-service meal and one snack per person per night of your vacation and a refillable drink mug for each member of your party. Since you're planning on one table-service meal each day, the Dining Plan would really fit the way your family would eat on vacation. The price of a child's character meal is generally equal to or more than the daily cost of the child's Dining Plan, so with three young kids you'd likely save a good bit of money by using the Dining Plan.

If your children are 10 or older, then whether the Dining Plan is a good deal for your family depends largely on where and how much you eat. My 14-year-old son is a picky eater who only orders from the children's menus at most restaurants, so buying the adult Dining Plan for him doesn't make sense financially for our family. If your older children are adventurous eaters who order off the adult menu, or you're planning to dine at several buffets or character meals, then the Dining Plan could be worthwhile. I recommend you take a look at the menus of the restaurants you're planning to reserve and estimate what you'd pay for your family's meals. Compare that cost to the daily cost of the Dining Plan to determine if the Plan's a good deal for your family. If you tend to order the more expensive items on the menu, the Plan can be a great deal.
