I am planning a trip to take my 4.5 yr old son to Disney World. I will be bringing him by myself. Are the parks manageable with one adult and a small child? Any tips to make things go more smoothly?

    Hi, Ann!

Welcome to Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am so glad that you found us!

When I have traveled with one or two of my own children by myself, Walt Disney World has been truly magical. Our first WDW solo trip was when my son was five and my daughter was eight, and I truly felt that there was no place on Earth that would have made our travel better than Walt Disney World. Since then, my son and I have traveled to WDW several times, just the two of us, and I can honestly say that our touring was effortless. We loved it!

The parks and resorts are set up for families with children, so your little prince will be the center of attention the entire time you are there. Also, Cast Members are so very helpful when a mom or dad needs a little assistance when traveling alone with a little one. You will be so happy that you visited with just the two of you, Ann!

Tips include ensuring that you have whatever you and your son might need with you, so that you don't have to get out of line with him to get something that you could have had with you. For example, carry a refillable water bottle for each of you, as well as some snacks that travel well (fruit snacks, popcorn, trail mix, etc.) Should your little man get hungry or thirsty while waiting to experience his next adventure, you'll have what you need to keep him happy.

In addition, remember to dine earlier than typical mealtimes. Both Quick-Service and Table-Service locations are very popular by 11:30 for lunch and 5:00 for dinner; head to those locations 30-60 minutes prior to those times so that you have ample seating and lines are much shorter. You'll notice the crowd levels have increased as you are exiting your dining location, well-fed, relaxed, and ready to take in more adventure!

Send more questions as you think of them, Ann; we love to help!
