We are planning our trip with our 14 year old daughter from Feb 4-8, 2015. We are staying at the Disney's Port Orleans Resort. Can you tell me what is all going on at this time? All I find is a marthon. What is the crowds and weather like? Any advice?

I recommend looking at the park schedule here to find out all that Disney has to offer while you're there on vacation. The Disney World marathon is in January and the Princess Half Marathon is at the end of February, so you'll be good on avoiding additional crowds that come with these RunDisney events. In fact, the week you'll be visiting traditionally sees lower crowds.

The weather in Orlando during February can be unpredictable. I've needed a warm coat and worn shorts on the same trip. Keep an eye on the local forecast before packing, otherwise you'll find yourself buying $40 pairs of shorts in your resort's gift shop or, like I did on my last trip, thumbing through the jackets to add an extra layer. I always suggest that folks buy ponchos at home for the trip along with small umbrellas. There's nothing worse than cold rain, which will scatter most guests, but bring even lower crowds. So come prepared to stay in the park while most guests leave.

My biggest advice for your trip is to make your FastPass+ selections that should be opening any day now. The most popular attractions like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train along with the Elsa & Anna Meet and Greet at the Magic Kingdom go fast. Also, Toy Story Midway Mania at Disney's Hollywood Studios is a tough one to book. If you find that you aren't able to get these, I recommend visiting the Magic Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios toward the end of your trip. Your ability to make FP+ selections opens based on your arrival date (at 60-days-out), however, you can book up to 10 days into your trip. You'll find that the affect that other guests who've booked into their trip has on planning your FP+  diminishes as you plan toward the end of your visit.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
