We are planning a trip in 4/12 to WDW. We are staying off site so meals will be OOP. 2 adults and 4 kids (girls 9 and 15 mths and boys 7 and 5) Want to do 2-3 meals. What would be the best character meals for everyone? We want to do one princess meal?

    Hi Amanda,

It sounds like April will be a magical month for your family!  You must be so excited to take your children to explore the wonders of Walt Disney World.  They really are at a fabulous age to take this kind of trip.

If a princess meal is on your "must do" list, then I'm going to suggest you consider dining with the princesses at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in the Norway Pavilion of Epcot.  A lovely variety of the royal ladies will be there to greet and interact with your family while they dine.  This character dining experience is absolutely lovely and I think you will find it much more affordable than Cinderella's Royal Table in the castle at the Magic Kingdom.

If you're looking for a classic character meal that everyone will enjoy, you can't beat Chef Mickey's on the fourth floor of Disney's Contemporary Resort.  I bet your kids will be mesmerized as the iconic monorail glides overhead as they eat. They have an extensive kid-friendly buffet here that will likely please everyone in your travel party.  Be sure to bring your camera and some autograph books for your kids.  You'll get some fabulous photos with Mickey and friends at this restaurant.

One final character meal I'll suggest for your family (based on the ages of your children) would be the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom.  If your kids love Winnie the Pooh and friends, then you won't want to miss dining here.

I encourage you to call (407) WDW-DINE 180 days in advance of your vacation to book reservations at any of these restaurants.  They are popular dining destinations and reservations fill up fast.  Also, consider scheduling breakfast for your family.  The character interaction is the same but the menu prices are substantially less expensive than later in the day.

Wishing you a family vacation sprinkled with extra pixie dust!
