We are planning a trip to WDW in October for the first time. We live close to Disneyland. Is a moderate resort worth paying over a budget resort? Where should we stay on a moderate budget and where should we plan to spend our time? Kids are 9 and 7.

Personally, my husband and I prefer the moderate resorts over the value resorts. Our son, however, finds all of the resorts to be magical.

Why do we prefer the moderates?
    -theming
    -table service restaurants
    -larger rooms
-they seem quieter and more relaxed
-pools offer slides which can keep our son busy for hours

Those are just some of the reasons that we prefer the moderate resorts. Just remember that it's only natural to want to stay in the best accommodations that your family can afford. Would I rather stay at a deluxe resort every trip? Absolutely. But sometimes our budget works out better at the moderate level. I'll never forget the time we checked in to a value resort and our 3 night's room cost was less than one night at another resort on property. For saving money, the value resorts are a great option.

Considering the ages of your kids, I would recommend the Caribbean Beach Resort. The new pirate-themed pool and play area are very nice. Mom and Dad will also appreciate the serene surroundings that this tropical oasis offers.

CBR has a nice food court, sandy beaches and the largest rooms of the moderate resorts at WDW.
