We are planning a trip to WDW in October 2014 with our 5yo DS & 7.5 yo DD. We are mainly planning on MK, Epcot, and HS, during our 5 days at the parks. What are some of the must-see/do attractions & yummy quick-service food stops for this age range

    Jennifer:

Your children are what I feel are the perfect ages to enjoy a Disney vacation! They are old enough to be potty-trained and walk unassisted, more than likely, but still young enough to take in the magic of meeting the characters and princesses.

    Here are my thoughts:

    • Magic Kingdom: Use your FP+ for the Princess Meet-and-Greets that can consume a lot of wait time. Because the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is brand-new, it's my other suggestion for a FP+ or to ride first thing in the morning or after the fireworks. Don't miss Enchanted Tales with Belle and encourage your children to be in the play. Only those who have a role get their picture made with her. Our family enjoys Columbia Harbor House where I can order grilled salmon but the kids can get mac & cheese and chicken nuggets. Grab a seat upstairs for some peace and quiet from the park.
    • Epcot: Get the earliest FP+ you can for Soarin' or Test Track and ride the other one as soon as you get to the park. Hold off on getting a snack until after you check out Coke's Cool Zone. You can try samples of colas from all over the world. Our pick for a quick service is Sunshine Seasons in The Land pavilion for freshness and variety from salads to ethnic and even a blue-plate line.
    • Disney's Hollywood Studios: Grab your FP+ for Toy Story Midway Mania as early as you can so that if your children like it you've got time to stand in line for a second time! Star Tours will be a highlight for your son, I'm betting. My kids love the Muppets in 3D but I'm partial to the Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. Studio Catering Company has covered seating and good variety. If it's real hot, choose Backlot Express and its inside seating. I encourage the adults to order the Grilled Vegetable Sandwich.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
