We are planning a trip to wdw 10/9/14-10/14/14 & noticed that there are no specials offered at that time, just the dates surrounding those. Is there some special event or is it an especially busy time? We were hoping to go at a not so crowded time.

    Hi Jane!

October is a great time to visit Walt Disney World!  We vacation in October quite frequently, and it happens to be one of our favorite times to visit as the crowds are lower, and the temperatures tend to moderate a bit.

Canadian Thanksgiving (our Columbus Day) falls on October 13 this year, so you'll expect to see a bit of an increase in crowds.  It's certainly not  peak crowds, but a bit of an increase.  Also, many children in the US have Columbus Day off of school, so there are many guests that make a little mini-vacation out of that extra day.

We've traveled over this time period several years because my birthday happens to fall within these dates, and while there's an increase, it's not unbearable.

    Have a magical vacation!
