We are planning a trip to WDW in May 2011. This will be our first trip for our children (daughter will be 6 the day we leave WDW and son will be 3.5). Is the Hoop Dee Doo Review a good choice for us? The food and length of show are a worry?

    Elizabeth:

We took our 2-year-old son to Hoop Dee Doo, along with our 7, 9, and 11 year-olds at the time, and the evening was a memorable one!

I can't think of anyone, kids included, who wouldn't love fried chicken and ribs, so I think you're safe on dinner. The show offers fast-paced entertainment and, even if some of the humor went over their heads, the kids still laughed. The show certainly isn't as long (or doesn't seem as long) as the Spirit of Aloha Show where my then 5-year-old fell asleep about 45 minutes into it.

My one recommendation: try to go to one of the two early shows. We used the dining plan and, therefore, were boxed into the last seating. The kids ate an early snack-supper to make it to dinner, and I was thankful we'd all left the parks early that day for a nap. By 11 o'clock, we were bushed. The show provides an impactful finale for a last night at Disney, but definitely try to get into one of the first two shows.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
