We are planning a trip to WDW July 09, our teenage children 17 and 14 are each taking a friend. I know all the resorts are great, but tying to decide which would our teenagers enjoy the best. Any suggestions?

    Cheryl:

My recommendation for parents of teens is to stay at a resort that is close to one of the parks so that the kids don't have to "hang" with the parents the entire stay. With this in mind, I'd recommend either Beach Club or the Polynesian.

Beach Club sits within walking distance of Epcot and has a boat launch to Disney Studios. It faces the boardwalk with great shopping, dining, and bike rentals.  Many of my fellow moms on the panel have recommended it for its Stormalong Bay water activities that include a lazy river, water slides, and a beach. Best of all, you may want to consider a Beach Club Villa that would allow all of you to stay under the same roof and give you a little more privacy.

The Polynesian's plus is the monorail giving it service to Epcot and Magic Kingdom. It also sports a fun pool area with a volcano. The pier provides an excellent view of the Magic Kingdom's fireworks plus the water pageant. My only concern with this recommendation is that a standard room would only sleep 5. If you are going with another adult chaperone or your spouse, two connecting rooms may be out of your budget, and you may want to look other options.

If Beach Club and Polynesian seem a bit out of your budget, consider the family suites at All-Star Music. But keep in mind that buses are the only form of transportation to the parks. The Fort Wilderness cabins offer much if your teens enjoy the outdoors. You can rent bikes, golf carts, take the boat launch to Magic Kingdom or other Seven Seas Lagoon resorts, or play dodgeball with the cast members. Best of all, by the time you visit, it'll offer a totally renovated pool area complete with slides and a hot tub.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
