planning a trip for 1st time to disney wold in 2014(6ngts).is worth it to get the dining pkg? we have3 sit down meals we want to do the royal table, chef mickey,tuskan.. there are 3 of us one is 7yrs. one of those meals my hubby will notb with us (tuskan)

Hi, Alisha!  I think the value in the dining plan really depends on how you use it.  You can certainly come out a bit ahead of the game with the dining plan, especially if you look for the most expensive menu items.  Keep in mind that some meals, like the signature dining experiences at places like Cinderella's Royal Table, will require the use of two of your meal credits.

The best thing I think about the dining plan is that it lets you budget for food.  Some people travel on a pretty tight budget, or they just like to know before they go what their expenses will be.  Having the dining plan allows you to pay before you go, so there aren't any big surprises when you sit down to a nice meal.

There is a lot of food on the dining plan.  If you have a family of light eaters, it may not be the best way to go.  When we go out to eat, we almost never order dessert, or we might get one dessert and share among us.  With the dining plan, everyone gets dessert, and with the larger portions at some of the restaurants, you may be too full to enjoy the dessert.  And I often see people on their last day picking up snacks in the park or the resort gift shops, because they have credits left over.

So, I recommend the plan if you are a family that really enjoys big meals, if you want to keep strictly to a budget, or if you like to have most of your trip paid for up front.  I don't recommend the plan if you routinely share meals or eat lighter.

    Have a great trip!
