    Salia from WA Asked

We are planning a trip for our sons birthday. How does character dining work? Will we be able to pay to have Mickey sit down with him while we sing Happy Birthday?

    Hello Salia!

Thanks so much for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I hope you are having a magical week.

Visiting Disneyland Resort is a perfect way to celebrate your birthdays! Booking a character meal would be your best bet to see the Chief Mouse in Charge during your meal, but unfortunately he isn’t usually available to sit for a song. There are many guests that are celebrating one thing or another and Mickey can often be found giving out hugs, autographs, pics and even a selfie, but it’s too time consuming for him to sit for a whole song.

One of my favorite places for character dining is the Plaza Inn located in Disneyland Park. It is where I’ve spotted Mickey, Minnie and their friends the most often, but please note that the characters that show up are always changing so you never know who you will find!

To celebrate your son’s birthday in style I suggest heading to guest services to pick up a complimentary birthday button. He can wear this throughout the visit and Cast Members will often give wish people a happy birthday if they see the button.

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions as you plan your visit!

    See you real soon!
