We are planning a trip for this October. We have three children 11,11, 12. The twins are both autistic and I wanted to hear feedback from parents who have used the new special needs accommodation. We were in FL under the old system which was a Godsend.

    Hi there Paula,

I'm happy to hEAR you are planning your next adventure to the Disney Parks. You are going to have a magical time and create memories that will last a lifetime.

We actually just got back from the Disneyland Resort and utilized the Disability Access Service (DAS) Card for our son who has special needs. Having used the now retired system and appreciating the benefit(s) it provided, we truly appreciated the new DAS card. There are some differences, but ultimately we like that there is not pressure to return to an attraction at a certain time.

With the Disability Access Service Card, you will go to one of the multiple guest relations kiosks throughout the park and inform the cast member about which attraction you would like to visit. They will fill out your DAS card with the name of the attraction and a return time. ANY time after the assigned return time, you can see a Cast Member at the entrance of the requested attraction to enter through the FastPass (FP) or alternate entrance as directed. The DAS card is not the same as an FP in that there is not a window return time, so there is no pressure to make it back within a certain period. You can only access one DAS card return time for one attraction at a time. While waiting for your DAS return time, you are welcome to grab a magical snack, enjoy a show, or watch a parade.

We found that all the Cast Members were very accommodating when getting our next assignment. The Cast Members would even suggest attractions with shorter wait times.

I hope this helps and that you have a pixie-dusted visit. If you have any more questions, please visit me here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel and let me know how I can help you plan your magical vacation.

    Wishing you magic!
