I am planning a trip for next summer. I'm wondering if it is better to book a vacation package or to book our hotel now and add tickets later in order to have a longer time frame in case we need to cancel. What are the benefits of a package?

    Hi Sheri,

Your vacation is a little far away, but don't worry. Time flies when magic is about to happen. Next thing you know, we'll be in June again, and it'll be Sheri's vacation time!

A Magic Your Way Vacation Package is the best way to combine a stay at a Disney Resort hotel with Theme Park Tickets. All you need is to make a $200 deposit, and the balance will be due 30 days before arrival. Also, this is the only way to get one of the Disney Dining Plans, which are an awesome way to leave your worries behind about how much to plan for meals.

Room-only vs package? Well, if you are not interested in a Disney Dining Plan, you could just make a room-only reservation. However, you would have to purchase Theme Park Tickets separately, and you should note that tickets are non-refundable. Also, in order to take advantage of making FastPass+ reservations 60 days in advance, you would need to purchase them by that time and properly link them to your My Disney Experience account.

My suggestion is to book a package. The Disney Resort Hotel Guest Benefits are the same, but you may decide on adjusting how many days for Theme Park Tickets, or what options to add, at a later date. And this is more important if you decide to add a Disney Dining Plan.

One last tip: There's always a Special Offer that you may take advantage of. Just be sure to keep an eye for them, however remember that you may need to adjust your dates or resort options. Happy planning!
