I am planning a trip in a month with 2 children. My youngest is 5 and has ADHD. I know wanted to see some entertainment and tours in addition to the parks. Which of these would you recommend as being most likely to keep his attention.

Hi Nichole,  from the timing of your question, it seems as though you will be arriving at Walt Disney World in late January or early February.  This is during off-peak season, and you should be able to enjoy significantly smaller crowds and shorter waits for rides and entertainment  than during other times of  year.  Hopefully, shorter waits will be good news for your son.  Regarding what entertainment options he might enjoy, a lot depends on his specific interests and special concerns/needs.  Does he have sensitivity to the dark or loud noises?  Shows that have held my children's attention included Wishes and Spectromagic at the Magic Kingdom, and Illuminations at Epcot.  All of these shows are spectacular, but take place in the dark, and the fireworks are loud.  I find it easier to keep my children engaged in the evenings rather than during the daytime parades, when they are focused on getting on their next ride.

One of the nice things about Disney is the opportunity to engage in spontaneous audience participation/viewing throughout the parks.  For example, my kids will sometimes get interested by a street performer on Main Street USA or on the Boardwalk in the evening.  They have stopped us several times to watch singing quartets, magicians and other acts that caught their attention.  Planning is certainly beneficial, but allowing your son to simply "live in the moment" should he become interested in one of these less-scheduled events might help him enjoy his trip even more!

I have attached a link to the Guests with Disabilities page on the Disney website.  Here, you can find additional information and contact numbers if you have more specific concerns or additional questions.  Have a wonderful time!
