Planning a trip with my mom (33 and 59) just the two of us 3/14-3/21. We have been to the parks many times and only plan to do half day at each park. We are looking to experience the hidden treasures outside the parks. What activities would you suggest?

    Hi Megan,

A trip with just your mom, where you can explore some of the activities for adults around Walt Disney World Resort, sounds absolutely wonderful!  I am going to suggest a whole bunch of options and hope that some of these will appeal to you.

First, you could spend an afternoon at Senses Spa at either Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa or Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.  I recently spent an afternoon at Senses Spa and left wonderfully relaxed and refreshed after a massage and a manicure.  If you are more interested in something more active, you could try horseback riding at Tri-Circle-D Ranch at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, or if you are really adventurous, you could try parasailing at Sammy Duvall's Watersports Centre.  One evening, my mother and I went to Jellyrolls, a dueling piano bar at Disney's BoardWalk.  We both really enjoy music, so this evening was a blast for us.

I know you said that you are looking for activities outside of the theme parks, but you might enjoy some of the tours offered in the Walt Disney World theme parks.  From an hour-long look at the greenhouses in the Land Pavilion at Epcot on the Behind the Seeds Tour to a day-long experience backstage at all four theme parks with Backstage Magic, these can add a great layer for returning guests.  Finally, your visit is during the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. The Flower Power Concert Series is a fun way to spend an evening hearing some good music.

I hope that some of these ideas will be fun for you and your mom.  I would love to help you plan more Megan.  Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
