Hello! We are planning for a trip in May 2018 to Disney World. There will be two adults and a 4 year old (2 of whom have never been). I am hoping to get your advice on the best place to stay and honest insight into a value vs moderate resort!

    Hi Nicole,

Thank you for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I am happy to help you to start planning your magical vacation! At all categories of Walt Disney World resort hotel, you will receive the benefits of staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel. No matter which category of resort you choose, you will be able to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours, receive MagicBands, make Disney FastPass+ reservations 60 days ahead of your vacation, and much more!

When it comes down to the choice between a value resort hotel and a moderate resort hotel, there are a few factors that I think you should consider. The first is space. The value resort hotel rooms are a bit smaller than the moderate resort rooms, and value resort rooms typically have double beds where moderate resort rooms typically have queen beds. If you were looking for more space at a value resort, you could consider a family suite at Disney's All-Star Music Resort or Disney's Art of Animation Resort. Another difference is dining. The moderate resorts tend to have more options for dining. Also, the moderate resorts are a little more centrally located and tend to have shorter transportation times to other Walt Disney World locations such as the theme parks.

Given all of the above, my family prefers to stay at a moderate resort when there is a choice between a moderate and a value resort. For us, the deciding factor is the bigger beds and slightly larger rooms. We recently spent a long weekend at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter and loved it!

Please let us know if you have any further questions, Nicole!
