    Elvia from TX Asked

Hi! Were planning a trip in June to Disneyland, taking our two boys. My 8 year old has DS & other health issues and can’t walk for very long. Can I have his meds with me through out the parks and will I have to buy the fast&maxpass for him?

Hi there, Elvia, and thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! There are so many exciting things happening at the Disneyland Resort right now, and I can’t wait for you to experience it all soon!

The Disneyland Resort is committed to providing an inclusive, accessible environment for all Guests, including those with special needs. As soon as you enter Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park, I recommend heading to a Guest Relations Main Entrance location to discuss your son’s special needs with a Cast Member. If your son would benefit from Disability Access Service (DAS) the Cast Member will be happy to walk you through the simple registration process. DAS is designed for Guests who may have difficulty waiting in a conventional queue environment. So, here’s how it would work: Each member of your party would need to present their valid theme-park admission to be included in a return time, which would be electronically associated to each of your tickets. Throughout the rest of the day, you could make additional return times at regional Guest Relations kiosks. Though you can only have one active return time at a time, DAS can be used in addition to Disney’s FASTPASS Service. This could be a helpful way for you to make the most of your Disney day.

As for Disney’s FASTPASS Service, there are two ways to enjoy it: First, when you purchase the Disney MaxPass feature, you can make FASTPASS selections directly from your phone using the Disneyland app. This is definitely the most convenient way to use it, since you can make selections as soon as you enter the turnstiles of either park. So, if you’re in Disneyland Park and have Park Hopper tickets, you can even make a FASTPASS selection for Disney California Adventure Park!

If you prefer not to add Disney MaxPass to each of your tickets, you can use FASTPASS Distribution points instead, which will issue a FASTPASS reminder with your arrival window. So, you’d need to walk up to the attraction, as opposed to making the selection from your phone with MaxPass.

Regarding your son’s medication, you shouldn’t have a problem bringing them with you throughout the parks. You may bring a bag, purse or backpack no larger than 24” long x 15” wide x 18” high. If you prefer, you can store your bag inside a locker rental, too.

Last but certainly not least, since you’ll be visiting shortly after the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you may want to look into making a reservation to enter Galaxy’s Edge, starting this Thursday, May 2 at 10 AM Pacific. Check this page on May 2 at 8 AM for additional information. If you’re staying at a Disneyland Resort hotel, then you’re probably already all set with your reservation time!

Wishing you a magical stay at the Happiest Place on Earth!

Meet the Panelist: Kristin, California

Hello from sunny California! I currently live less than an hour from the Disneyland Resort, and have been an Annual Passholder for about 20 years! As a mom of three kids under the age of 7, I consider myself an expert at navigating the Disneyland Resort with little ones. My family of five can’t get enough of the magic and happiness we encounter every time we step foot on Main Street, U.S.A. I look forward to sprinkling pixie dust on your next visit to “The Happiest Place on Earth!”
