I am planning a trip in July and it's my first time going to Disney world, so I was wondering if it is beneficial for me to get the magic bands if I stay off site? Does a 2 year old need to buy a magic band to or not?

    Hi, Jose!

Welcome to Walt Disney World! Make sure you stop by a Guest Services desk in any of the theme parks to pick-up your free FIRST VISIT button. Wear it proudly, my friend!

If you are staying off property, while a MagicBand is nice, it certainly is not a necessity. The MagicBand would take the place of your park ticket and also used for entry in the FastPass+ queue for any FastPass+ selections you might have. You can simply save the money and use your park ticket for admittance into the park and your FastPass+. The ticket is hard plastic like a credit card, so it is quite easy to carry around or slip into a lanyard. However, if you just can't resist the cute colors and designs of the MagicBands, they are readily available for purchase all over Walt Disney World.

Your little Mouseketeer at age 2 will not need a park ticket, and therefore will not need a MagicBand. He/she can simply tag along with a parent into the parks.

Since you are traveling with a little one, some tips for you! Make sure to bring or rent a stroller as there is a lot of walking. For diaper changes, stop by a convenient Baby Care Center where you will find changing tables, restrooms, and items for purchase in case you are short on any necessities for your child.

One last reminder....Make sure you make your FastPass+ selections (up to 30 days in advance) and book your Dining Reservations.

Enjoy your visit to the House of Mouse!
