Hello!! We are planning a trip in Feb 2011. This is our first visit with our 2 children. We have stayed at the Carribean Resort and Wilderness Lodge in the past. Any suggestions on a fun place to stay this trip? This is also our son's 5th birthday.

    Hi Jessica!

I think all of the resort hotels at Walt Disney World have something fun to offer.  However, I'm going to recommend some of my favorites for families:

The Beach Club and Yacht Club resorts have the best pool on property.  That's always been very important to my children, ages 5 and 10.  The resorts share Stormalong Bay, a sand bottom pool.   It is absolutely fabulous -- a mini-water park.  My children absolutely love the resort.  My 5 year old could spend his entire vacation in Stormalong Bay.  The children's area actually has a sand island in the middle allowing the kids to build sand castles.  The Beach Club is also a 5 minute walk to Epcot via that park's International Gateway entrance, giving you easy access to the great dining in World Showcase.

You should also consider the Animal Kingdom Lodge.  The theming can't be beat and I think having the animals right outside is fantastic!  While the pool is not as nice as Stormalong Bay, it is a great pool.  The resort also offers a lot of activities for young children.  However, it can be a long bus ride to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

Finally, I'll recommend that you consider staying in the Polynesian Resort.  I think it is the most romantic resort on property, and your children will enjoy it as well.  The volcano pool is very cool.  'Ohana is also a great place to eat; a "must do" on all of my family trips.  With young children, you might be spending a lot of time in the Magic Kingdom.  Being able to easily hop back to your room via the monorail is a real plus.  You can return in mid-afternoon for a break, swim in the pool, nap, etc.

Good luck!  It's a hard choice between all of the resorts available at Walt Disney World.  Write back if you have any more questions!
