We are planning a trip to get our family's young cousins together at Disney World. We have 4 parents 5 kids and 1 grandmother. What are your value or moderate resort recommendations for this sized crew? Thanks

    Hi Dave,

Thank you for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I enjoy traveling to Walt Disney World with extended family. It is so much fun to have extra people with whom to share the magic! Of course, figuring out accommodations for all of those people can be tricky. Let me offer you some thoughts.

It sounds like you have a total of 10 guests: five adults and five children. Walt Disney World does list guest limits for their rooms; however, one child under 3 years old can stay in each room and not be counted toward the total. For example, if one of the children is 2 years old, and the guest limit in a room is four people, you could still have the 2-year-old child be a fifth guest in that room as she does not count toward the total number of guests.

Even given this, I would suggest that if you want standard hotel rooms, take a look at Disney's moderate resort hotels. These rooms will be slightly bigger than the value resort rooms. Moderate resort hotels typically include queen beds, whereas in most situations value resorts will have double beds. With as many people as you will have in each room, the extra space will be valuable. A good option for you for a moderate resort might be Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside, with a lovely rural Louisiana theme.

The one situation in which I might suggest one of Disney's value resort hotels for your party is if you consider a family suite. These family suites sleep up to six guests each, and have two separate sleeping areas, as well as two bathrooms each. The family suites can be found at Disney's Art of Animation Resort and Disney's All-Star Music Resort.

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Dave. Have a wonderful time planning your magical vacation, and please do let us know if you have any further questions.
