We are planning a trip for the end of Jan 2010. Might possible stay at POP Century 4 nights and then move to WL for the last 3. How much trouble would this be?

Our family rarely takes a Disney World vacation anymore where we don't move to a different resort during our stay. We find some great advantages to this practice like the opportunity to try new resorts or even visit more than one favorite on the same vacation. This also allows us the chance to splurge and spend a few nights in a deluxe location or concierge level and then move to a moderate or value resort to save money and extend our stay. We often use this practice when we would like to stay longer than our Disney Vacation Club property is available but we are able to find room at other WDW locations.

Disney helps make this moving process fairly easy. On the morning that you are switching resorts you simply check out of your one resort (in your example Pop Century) and call baggage and ask them to take your luggage. Let them know you are moving to another property (in your case the Wilderness Lodge) and would like them to transfer your luggage for you. They will tag your bags and move them to your new resort. Be aware that the bags often do not get transferred until later in the afternoon so if there is anything you may need sooner, be sure to take that with you at the time. You can either go directly to your next resort and check in (your room may not be ready prior to check in time) or go to the parks and enjoy your day, checking in later when you arrive back to the hotel. You will need to get new Keys to the Kingdom cards at the second resort, however the original cards will work in the parks during that transition day until you receive your new cards.

We find the hardest part of this habit is re-packing our suitcases half way through the trip but other than that, we find the process easy, quick and a lot of fun. On two occassions we have actually moved three times in the same trip. Hope you have a great stay at both your resort locations.
