Hi, I am planning a trip at the end of August and want to stay at Port Orleans, but, I didn't realize there are 2 properties! Which is best for me and my 14 year old daughter. I am looking more from a convenience, room size, amenities perspective.

    Marianne:

I really think you'd be pleased with either property, but the two have attributes that make both unique.

Port Orleans: French Quarter boasts the smallest footprint of any of the Disney properties. For some, this may not be a plus as it doesn't have a table service restaurants nor as a large a pool complex as Port Orleans: Riverside. However, because of its size, you'll find that you are never more than a comfortable 5-minute walk from the pool, lobby, laundry facilities, boat launch to Downtown Disney or the bus stop.

What Port Orleans: Riverside lacks in compactness it more than makes up in amenities like its table service restaurant, Boatwright's, its Royal Guest Rooms with animated headboards, dock area and carriage rides. If you're relying on bus transportation, you will find yourself making several stops at the large resort, but it adds less than 5 minutes to your commute.

Both resorts have boats to Downtown Disney and their rooms sizes are the same, so making the choice between the two comes down to the size of the resort and how much you'll be using the pool. The theming at either takes you to different areas of the South. As I said, you'll be pleased no matter what you decide.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
