Parade at Magic Kingdom

We are planning a trip over Easter 2019 to the Magic Kingdom & Animal Kingdom. Is it typically very crowded in the parks on Easter Sunday? I am wondering if it would be better to have a resort/pool day instead of going to park. Advice?

    Hi Brooke,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. I adore Easter at Walt Disney World; the weather is usually wonderful, the parks are in spring bloom, and Disney’s lovely Easter touches (like the cutest treats) are perfectly dreamy.

I’ve spent the past two Easter Sundays at Walt Disney World, and I can confirm that it has been pretty crowded both years. I think a lot of school districts plan Spring Break to run up against Easter, so that increases the crowds, and lots of locals enjoy spending Easter in the parks too. I didn’t find Easter Sunday any busier than the days leading up to Easter this year, and I think with a good plan and your FastPass+ reservations all set, you'll be just fine.

I would definitely not avoid the theme parks on Easter - there are great celebrations to join! At Magic Kingdom Park, there is a fabulous Easter pre-show to the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade, featuring special guests Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny and the Azalea Trail Maids in the most gorgeous Easter gowns. In addition, my family loved Epcot's Easter Egg-Stravaganza scavenger hunt.

A resort day on Easter Sunday can also be a magical choice. If you’d like to attend a religious service, those are typically held in the convention space at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. My family had a blast participating in  the Easter activities around the resorts; there's usually a candy scramble, a photo opportunity with characters in their Easter finest, and other special events planned. There are also Easter brunches at many of the resort restaurants and in Disney Springs.

Brooke, as you get closer to your vacation date, be sure to keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog, where information will be shared about Easter activities at the parks and resorts.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
