I am planning a trip in early Jan 2011, 2 adults and 6 children. I just don't know where to start! Never been, so it all just seems confusing. And we are on a budget!! Any help?

Hi Latisha,  As a Mom of 5 myself, I recall how daunting it felt the first time I planned our Walt Disney World vacation for the whole family. Rest assured that you've come to the right place, I am thrilled to be able to help you plan!

As you've seen, it can be feel overwhelming in the beginning, so lets take this one step at a time :)

Good news! I see you've already done the first step: You've decided when you will be vacationing. You've selected January as your travel time, which is great because it's during the value season. Focus on booking Sunday - Thursday which is when the rates are at their lowest.

Next, have you chosen what Resort you will be staying in? If not, may I suggest you visit this link: HERE. Due to your family size, you will have some restrictions on where you'll be able to stay. You would all fit into a Deluxe Villa. However, because you mentioned a budget, I'm going to instead suggest that you focus on the Value Resorts and reserve 2 connecting rooms. With young children (or only 2 adults in the Party), they are guaranteed to be connecting. We've stayed at Disney's All-Star Sports Resort in connecting standard rooms and had plenty of space. It was nice because we had 2 showers, which as you know, is important with a large family. Also, because there are 8 people in your group, you are a "Grand Gathering". I'd suggest you call a Travel Planner at 407-WDW PLAN. Ask them to price out 2 standard view Value rooms.

Once you've chosen your accommodations, then we can chat a bit about the different Parks and ticketing options, Dining Plans & more. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the numerous Resort possibilities & choose one that suits your family. Then come back and visit us soon. We'd love to help! Thanks for visiting the Moms Panel!
